History

The ancestor of the ruling family was Patai Rawal the last King of Champaner fl.1484. The state was founded in 1743, and is a Second Class state in the Rewa Kantha Agency. The Maharawal maintains a military force of 50 cavalry, 256 infantry and and 4 guns (in 1893).

He was taken into the first batch of I.A.S. in 1950. He served as Collector and Commissioner prior to his retirement in 1957.
