Present Head

There are two claims to the Throne of Sirmur.

1st Claim:

Maharaja Udai Prakash Ji (son of Maharajkumari Nalini Devi), who was adopted on 23rd September 1965 by his maternal grandmother, HH Shri Maharani Durga Kumari Deviji Sahiba after the death of her husband Lt. HH Maharaja RAJENDRA PRAKASH Bahadur. He subsequently assumed the headship of the Royal House of Sirmur and the title of Maharaja of Sirmur, but this never received a sanction or recognition from the Government of India along with a denial to Privey Purse. He died on .

2nd Claim:

The biradari (brotherhood) of Bhati Sardars of Simur never accepted Udai Prakash ji as the Maharaja of Sirmur. On 17th March 2013, Bhati Sardars of Sirmur collectively had a meeting with Rajmata Sahiba Padmini Devi of Jaipur at City Palace Jaipur to request her to place Rajkumar Laksh Raj, son of Maharajkumari Diya Kumari of Jaipur and grandson of HH Maharani Saheba Padmini Devi to the Throne of Sirmur.

Maharaja Laksh Raj Prakash Bahadur, born  14th May 2004; younger son of Maharaj Narendra Singh (Thikana Kothara of Shivad), by his wife, Maharajkumari Diya Kumari of Jaipur; educated at the Mayo College, Ajmer, currently enrolled at Millfield School, Somerset. On 17th March  2013, members of the Sirmur Royal Family and senior nobles chose him as successor to the late Lieut.-Col. H.H. Maharaja Sir Rajendra Prakash Bahadur, who had died in , without male issue of his body and without naming a successor. Ascended the gaddi, at Nahan on 15th May 2013 at Nahan Palace. Maharaj Ajay Bahadur Singh Ji, Maharaj Abhay Bahadur Singh Ji and Maharaj Alark Singh Ji will act as an informal court of wards to the young Maharaja.
