History

Rao Raanka Rathore who was the great grandson of Rao Sheoji (founder of the Rathore clan) migrated from Rajasthan to Raika in Kashmir and established a kingdom after defeating local kings. After 200 years, around 1415, three brothers migrated to Ramnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The eldest brother Pratap Shah established his estate in Ramnagar after defeating the Bhars. A few years later his elder son Saldeo gave Ramnagar to his younger brother Baldeo and conquered further lands across Ghagra river and established the principality of Baundi. In 1600 Rehwa was formed out of Baundi and Raja Gajpati Singh became the first king of Rehwa. The power of the Raikwar clan was at its peak 30 years preceding the Annexation of Awadh.
