History
The Thikana of Garhi, a prominent estate of the Kachwaha dynasty located in the historic region of Alwar, traces its lineage to Rao Dasa, the illustrious son of Rao Naru, who founded the celebrated Naruka clan. As members of the Dasawat Naruka sub-division of the Kachwahas, the chieftains of Garhi played a pivotal role in the military and administrative affairs of Mewat and northeastern Rajputana, defending their territories during turbulent phases of Mughal and Maratha hegemony. Their close kinship ties with the ruling house of Alwar, established by Rao Raja Pratap Singh in 1775, positioned Garhi as an influential estate within the state's feudal hierarchy until the integration of Rajputana into the Indian Union post-Independence in 1949. For further historical context on the region's geopolitical evolution, see the detailed records in the Alwar State Archive and local administrative gazetteers.
