History

The Chudasama Rajputs trace there lineage to Ancient Lunar dynasty. They called themselves as direct descendant of Lord Krishna. The Jadeja, Chudasama, and Bhati of Jaisalmer are belongs same lineage. As per based on notes of barots, Devendra, The king of Ancient Shonitpur Kingdom have 4 sons, Aspat converted to Islam, Gajpats descendants are known as Chudasamas, Narpats descendants known as Jadejas, and Bhupats descendants known as Bhatis. They three refused to get converted to Islam and migrated to present day Afghanistan. Gajpat captured Gazni by defeating King Firozshah and Jam Narpat was made King of Gazni.

Gajpat migrated to Saurashtra with his son, his descendant Samma have one son named him as Chudachandra because he was devotee of Lord Shiv. Chudachandra (875-907) given Vanthali by his maternal grandfather Valaram as he was heir less. From Chudachandra they known as Chudasama. His grandsonson Vishvarah (915-940) given the title of Raa. After him every King of Junagadh - Vanthali used Raa before their names. Raa Graharipu (940-983) found the Ancient and Abadoned Fort of Junagadh, he cutted the jungle and restored the fort and given name as Uparkot fort. He faught battle with Mulraj Solanki of patan with assistance of Lakho Fulani of Kutch in A. D. 979. His grandson Raa Diyas (1003-1010) was attacked by Durlabhsen Solanki of Patan, he was didnt able to win Junagadh so with skirmish he sent a Barot to take head of Raa Diyas in appange, Raa Diyas given his head by his own sword and said," if i had Lakh head i have given lakh also in appange. Raa Navghanji - 1 (1025-1044) son of Raa Diyas captured Junagadh again from Solanki. His son was Raa Khengar (1044-1067), he made Khengar Vav in Vanthali. His son Raa Navghanji - 2(1067-1098), he had 5 sons, Rao of Idar sent marriage proposal for him so he asked his Yuvraj and elder son Bhimji but he refused so Raa Navghanji said if he had son from Idar rani he will be heir of Junagadh, as Bhimji had full respect for his father he promised. Bhimji, leaved Gaddi for his brother as he was tilayat kunvar he recieved Bhadli, Sarva, Vansavad, Gamph. His descendents received villages in Amreli paragnah are known as Sarvaiyas and received in Dhandhuka - Gondal area are known as Chudasamas, second son Satrasalji, received Aatham Chorasi (Rojka, Pipli, Badi etc.). His descendents known as Chudasamas, third son Devghanji, received Osam Chorasi (Khakhijalia, Kolki etc.). His descendants known as Baria Chudasamas, forth son Savghanji, received Lath and Bhimora with other villages. On Lath his descendants known as Lathiya Chudasamas, fifth son Raa khengar, succeeded on Gaddi of Junagadh, his descendant Raa Mandlik-3 the last Rajput king of Saurashtra. he was defeated in battle with Sultan Mahmud Begda of Ahemdabad, his son Raa Bhupatsinhji given fief of eighty-four villages of Bagasara Chaurasi because Mahmud Begda was impressed by the personality, bravery and rituals of Bhupatsinhji, he used to called him "Raizada" it means Son of Raa. So after the descendants of Raa Bhupatsinhji known as Raizadas. Nowadays they are living villages near Keshod.

Later descendants of Bhimji moved to Bhal region in Raisalji 1 region. Second son of Raa Navghanji 2 Satrasaljis Descendant Raighanji of Rojka and other villages had fight with Radha Mer of Dhandhuka in battle Raisalji 1 helped him and won Dhandhuka at that time Khuman Kathi take advantage and captured Bhadli so Raisalji 1 established his capital at Gorasu in 1572.His Grandson Amarsinhji abandoned Gorasu and established Gamph in 1633, it remained Capital of Chudasama Rajputs. There were 52 estates in Bhal area which are former bhayats of Gamph State. In 1947, Vikramsinhji Manharsinhji Chudasama, The Thakore Saheb of Gamph merged his State into Indian union.

  • Thakore Saheb Shri Vikramsinhji Manharsinhji Chudasama, Forteenth Thakore Saheb of Gamph (1934-1982), son of Anandkunverba. He merged Gamph into Indian union in 1947. In 1971 Indira gandhi government amended the Indian Constitution to remove his position as a "ruler" and his right to receive privy-purse payments. Married Rani Shri Rohiniindrakunverba Rathod, daughter of Raja Jagganathsinghji Rathod of Daulatpur ( M. P) and had issue one son;
