History

The Thikana was founded by Thakur Pratap Singhji in 1775 Vikrami. The Thakur of This Thikana having descendants from the family of raja Fateh Singhji, great-grandson of Maharaja Udai Singh Ji, the ‘Mota Raja’ of Jodhpur.

Before 1875 Vikrami the Thikana was absolutely independent but after that according to an agreement between General Sir John Malcolm (the political in-charge of central India agency) and Dhar darbar the Thikana was handed over to State. The Darbar granted hereditary right of judiciary to this Thikana. It has its own police and jail and enjoys full Revenue Powers. The Thikana occupied a prominent position among the well-administered Thikanas of the State.

Dharsikheda also had villages under its Jagir by names of Kadod Kalan, Nagda, Ranipura, Indrawal (Narsingh temple) Gadawdiya, Gouwadi etc.

  • Thakur Jawaan Singh Ji, 7th Thakur Saheb of Thikana Dharsikheda, born on and succeeded his father in 1906 AD. In same year he was invested with full administrative powers of his thikana by Dhar darbaar. He was an able and far-sighted ruler and had introduced several useful reforms in the administration of the Thikana. He had increased the resources of revenue without being unjust and hard. He gave remissions of thousands of rupees in arrears of land revenue to the cultivators, and after that he Emptied his treasury at the time of drought during his govern and dug 90 wells in the area to provide employment to his people at that critical time and for resolving drought and water problem for the future. He was very dearly loved by his subjects. He got married in 1906 and was blessed with five sons and four daughters.

  • Thakur Jaswant Singh Ji, 8th Thakur Saheb of Thikana Dharsikheda, born on ; he leaded an ideal life and possessed most charming manners and won the hearts of all who came in contact with him. He served as Magistrate in Hoshangabad, received training of judicial, revenue and accounts in the Dhar State. He was also a nature lover and during his rule he had completely banned the cutting of trees and unnecessary hunting in the entire area by force. He Married to Thakuranisa Braj Kunwar of Ronsla and had issues.

  • Thakur Prithviraj Singh Ji, 9th Thakur Saheb of Dharsikheda, born on , studied at Sitamau, Jhabua, Ratlam and Sardar boarding house Dhar; married 1stly to Thakuranisa Phool Kanwar, daughter of Raja Sahab Lakshman Singhji of Karaudia (MP) and his wife Thakuranisa Vishnu Kanwar of Bhatbamanda had issues. He died in year 1993.

  • Thakur Surendra Singh Ji, 10th Thakur Saheb of Thikana Dharsikheda, born , He was a man of tactful manners and a brilliant personality, and was greatly loved by his people. He held many political posts; married to Thakurani Sangeeta Singh, daughter of Thakur Saheb Bharat Singhji of Devriya and had issues, one son and a daughter. He died in year 2013 at such a young age it was great loss for everyone.
