Pandaria

The Pandaria Zamindari, located in the present-day Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh, was a premier estate ruled by the historic Raj Gond dynasty, which established its authority in the region during the 16^th century. Originally a feudatory under the Garha-Mandla kingdom, Pandaria emerged as one of the most prominent and wealthy zamindaris in the Bilaspur territory, a status well-documented in the Bilaspur District Gazetteer (1910). Throughout its history, the estate successfully navigated successive political transitions, maintaining its local autonomy during the Maratha expansion under the Bhonsles of Nagpur and later during the British Raj, where it was recognized as a leading chieftaincy within the Central Provinces. The administrative legacy of Pandaria, characterized by its patronage of local culture and management of vast forest tracts, officially concluded post-Independence with the passage of the Madhya Pradesh Abolition of Proprietary Rights Act of 1950, which integrated this historic Gond estate into the democratic fabric of modern India, as detailed in the official history of Kabirdham district.
