Present Head
History
The Sanchora branch of the Chauhan dynasty represents a prominent offshoot of the Songara Chauhans of Jalore, who established their sovereignty in the Sanchore region of southwestern Rajasthan after the fall of Jalore in the early 14th century. A branch of these Sanchora Chauhans migrated to the Vagad region of southern Rajasthan, where they established the historical estate of Tamboliya under the princely state of Banswara. As noble vassals (Thakurs) of the state, the rulers of Tamboliya Thikana rendered loyal military and administrative services to the Maharawals of Banswara, maintaining their distinct cultural identity and feudal autonomy through the Mughal and British periods until the integration of the state into independent India in 1948.
