History
Sodawas, located in the present-day Pali district of Rajasthan, was a prominent Thikana (fiefdom) of the Bhati clan of Rajputs under the princely state of Jodhpur (Marwar). The estate was formally granted in 1943 to Thakur Bishan Singhji of Osian, a noble belonging to the illustrious Bhati dynasty, which historically traces its ancestry back to the legendary Yadu dynasty. This grant was bestowed during the reign of Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur, recognizing the family's loyalty, martial prowess, and administrative service to the Marwar crown. As the thakur of Sodawas, Bishan Singhji and his descendants played a vital role in the local governance and socio-cultural development of the region, preserving the rich architectural and military traditions of the Rajputs until the integration of princely states into the Indian Union after independence. Further historical accounts of the region's aristocratic structure can be referenced via the Imperial Gazetteer of India.
