History

The Nizamnagar Thikana, historically recognized as one of the prominent Panch Thikanas of the Alwar State, traces its illustrious lineage to the Naruka clan of the Kachwaha dynasty. Originally established as the Pai estate in the Bharatpur region, it was granted to Rao Jodh Singh Naruka, the youngest son of Rao Kalyan Singh of Macheri (the ancestral house of Alwar). Following the political reorganization of the region in 1775, when Maharao Raja Pratap Singh successfully established the sovereign princely state of Alwar, the seat of this noble house was strategically shifted to Nizamnagar. Distinguished with the prestigious hereditary title of "Rao" and granted the high honor of Tazim (formal court recognition) by the Alwar Darbar, the thikana held a significant feudal and administrative position. The estate comprised the village of Nizamnagar along with half-shares of Berka and Behari, yielding an annual revenue of Rs 2,000 and contributing a cavalry contingent of four horses for the military service of the state, as detailed in historical records of Rajputana estates and the Imperial Gazetteer of India.
