History
As a prominent vassal estate of Sirohi State, Mandwada played an active role in the feudal administration of the Deora Chauhan clan, who established their sovereignty in the region during the early 14th century. The estate's lineage, branching out from the larger Sildar fief, represents the traditional bhayat (brotherhood) system of land distribution designed to fortify the frontiers of the Sirohi state. Following the 1823 treaty of subsidiary alliance between Sirohi and the British East India Company, Mandwada maintained its local autonomy, collecting revenue and maintaining order within its jurisdiction while paying formal allegiance to the ruling Maharao. This feudal system persisted until the integration of Rajputana's princely states into independent India in 1949.
