History
The Labhowa Zamindari, situated in the modern-day Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, was a prominent estate held by the Jhala clan of Rajputs who migrated eastward from their ancestral strongholds in Kathiawar (Gujarat) and Rajasthan during the medieval period. Throughout the Mughal and Maratha eras, the Jhala chieftains of Labhowa maintained significant local influence, which was later recognized and formalized as a Zamindari estate under the British Raj. The rulers of Labhowa were known for their administrative patronage and local leadership until the post-independence land reforms and the passage of the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition Act of 1951 brought an end to their formal feudal privileges, transitioning the family into the modern era while preserving their rich cultural heritage.
