History

Origin and Lineage

The Thikana of Jabrasar belongs to the prestigious Sringot (Shringot) Bika clan of the Rathore dynasty of Bikaner. The lineage traces its ancestry back to Maharaj Srirangji (Shringji), a prominent son of Rao Jait Singh (r. 1526–1542 AD), the ruler of Bikaner State. The descendants of Maharaj Srirangji established powerful fiefdoms in the northern and eastern parts of the Bikaner state, with Bhukarka serving as one of their primary historical seats of power.

Foundation of the Thikana

In the mid-19th century, the branch of the family residing at Jasana expanded its influence. In 1862 AD, Thakur Saheb Shivdan Singhji, the son of Thakur Saheb Lal Singhji of Jasana, was granted the estate of Jabrasar by Maharaja Sardar Singhji of Bikaner. This grant was conferred in recognition of loyal service and as part of the strategic settlement of noble families in the region. The ruling family of Jabrasar maintained close ties with both the parent house of Jasana and the royal court of Bikaner.

The Colonial Period and State Administration

During the British Raj, the Thikana of Jabrasar operated under the suzerainty of the Bikaner State, which had entered into a subsidiary alliance with the East India Company in 1818. As Nobles of the State, the Thakurs of Jabrasar played an active role in local administration, revenue collection, and maintaining law and order in their jagir. The Shringot Bikas were renowned for their martial traditions and administrative capability, contributing significantly to the military campaigns and statecraft of the Bikaner State forces.

Post-Independence and Modern Era

Following India's independence in 1947, the Bikaner Princely State merged into the United State of Greater Rajasthan in 1949. Under the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act of 1952, the traditional jagirdari system was abolished, and the administrative powers of the Thikana were integrated into the democratic setup of the Republic of India. Today, the descendants of the Jabrasar ruling family reside in Rajasthan and other parts of India, preserving their rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, and ancestral traditions.
