History
Bansiya Thikana, located in the historic region of Marwar (modern-day Pali district, Rajasthan), was an esteemed estate held by the Udawat sub-clan of the Rathore dynasty under the suzerainty of the princely state of Jodhpur. The Udawats trace their illustrious descent from Rao Uda (Uday Singh), a heroic grandson of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, who established a legacy of military prowess and chivalry. As prominent feudal lords of the region, the Thakurs of Bansiya rendered vital military service to the Jodhpur state during various historical conflicts, particularly during the Mughal era, and maintained administrative autonomy within their fiefdom. Following the independence of India and the subsequent integration of Rajasthan, the formal feudal privileges of the Thikana were dissolved under the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act, transitioning the legacy of Bansiya from a ruling estate into a cherished chapter of Marwar’s cultural heritage.
