History
Origin and Foundation
The historical foundations of the Khejdiya Thikana are deeply intertwined with the illustrious Mertiya branch of the Rathores of Marwar. The lineage of this estate traces its descent back to Thakur Bhupat Singhji, a prominent noble of royal lineage. Thakur Bhupat Singhji left Jodhpur with his brother Kishan Singh during a period of geopolitical realignment in the region. Upon his departure, he was granted a feudal estate consisting of five villages, centered around Naraina. By establishing his authority over these territories, Bhupat Singhji became the progenitor and founder of the Bhuptot (Bhupatot) clan, a distinct and respected branch of the Rathore dynasty.
Feudal Services and British Era
Throughout the medieval and colonial periods, the rulers of Khejdiya served as loyal vassals to the parent state of Marwar (Jodhpur). The Bhuptot thakurs were known for providing military service and levying cavalry during times of external threats. With the establishment of the British Raj and the subsequent treaties of alliance signed by the Jodhpur State, Khejdiya transitioned into a stable administrative era, focusing on local governance, agricultural management, and upholding traditional Rajput honor.
Post-Independence and Modern Era
Following India's independence in 1947 and the integration of the princely states into the democratic Union, the jagirdari system was formally abolished through legislative reforms in Rajasthan. Consequently, the administrative power of Khejdiya Thikana was dissolved, and its territories were integrated into the modern state of Rajasthan. Today, the descendants of the Bhuptot Rathore clan actively maintain their ancestral legacy, preserving local customs, historical monuments, and community leadership in the region.
