History
Khawasa Thikana, located in the Malwa region of modern-day Madhya Pradesh, was a prominent estate ruled by the Rathore dynasty of Rajputs. The rulers of Khawasa traced their lineage to the princely state of Jhabua State, which was founded by Keshav Das, a descendant of Rao Jodha of Marwar. As a crucial vassal estate (fiefdom) of Jhabua, the Rathores of Khawasa defended their territories during periods of Maratha expansion and subsequent British hegemony under the Central India Agency. Following India's independence and the signing of the Instrument of Accession, the Thikana was integrated into the Union of India, eventually becoming a part of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
