History

Established as a prominent Thikana (fiefdom) of the princely Pratapgarh State, Achlawada was granted to Maharaj Madhav Singh (Madho Singh), the younger son of the 10^th Maharawat Hari Singh of Pratapgarh and Maharani Ajabkuveri Gaur (who later committed Sati). As scions of the illustrious Sisodia clan, the thakurats of Achlawada held a distinguished first-class seat among the state's nobility, actively contributing to the military defense of the Malwa-Mewar frontier. Throughout the turbulent 18^th and 19^th centuries—characterized by Maratha dominance and the subsequent transition to British paramountcy—the estate maintained its administrative autonomy and traditional land revenues until its formal integration into the United State of Rajasthan post-independence in 1948.
