History
The Vageri Thikana represents a prominent historical seat of the Sanchora Chauhan dynasty, a distinguished offshoot of the Songara branch of the imperial Chauhan clan. Founded after the decentralization of the Jalore kingdom, the Sanchora Chauhans established their dominance over the fertile tracts of Sanchore and its surrounding territories, with Vageri emerging as a vital feudal fiefship. Throughout the medieval and British periods, the Thakur Sahibs of Vageri maintained their political influence and landholdings as noble vassals, navigating complex alliances with larger regional powers such as the Princely State of Jodhpur (Marwar) until the ultimate integration of the estate into the Indian Union post-Independence.
