History

As a vassal estate of the princely Sirohi State, Vadvaj was ruled by the Deora clan of Chauhan Rajputs, who established their hegemony in southwestern Rajasthan after the fall of Jalore. The Thakurs of Vadvaj maintained a traditional feudal relationship with the Maharaos of Sirohi, contributing military contingents during regional conflicts with neighboring powers and Maratha raiders. Following the British alliance with Sirohi in 1823, which is documented in the historical accounts of Sirohi State, the estate transitioned into a peaceful agrarian lordship. After India attained independence in 1947, the Thikana was integrated into the state of Rajasthan, bringing an end to its formal administrative powers while preserving its ancestral legacy.
