Vadthali

The Vadthali Thikana represents a historically significant seat of the Sanchora Chauhan clan, an aristocratic offshoot of the Songara Chauhans of Jalore. Following the fragmentation of the Jalore kingdom after its historic capitulation to the Delhi Sultanate in the early 14^th century, the Sanchora Chauhans—who trace their lineage to Rao Sobhit of Sanchore—dispersed into the contiguous borderlands of southern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat, eventually establishing their lordship over Vadthali. Throughout the Mughal, Maratha, and British colonial eras, the Thakors of Vadthali preserved their autonomous clan identity and socio-political influence, navigating the complex geopolitical landscape of regional state agencies while maintaining their traditional Rajput martial and landholding traditions.
