History

Ukharda Thikana, situated in the historic Marwar region of Rajasthan, represents a prominent seat of the Sindhal Rathore clan, a distinguished cadet branch of the imperial Rathore clan. The Sindhal Rathores trace their lineage back to Rao Sindhal, a heroic warrior and grandson of Rao Asthan (the late 13th-century ruler of Marwar), whose descendants established their influence over various territories in Jaitaran, Jalor, and Pali. As vassal chiefs of the Jodhpur State, the Thakurs of Ukharda rendered valuable military service to the ruling Maharaja of Marwar, defending the borders and participating in various regional campaigns during the medieval and British eras. This historic estate preserved its administrative autonomy and feudal traditions until the post-independence integration of Rajputana states into democratic India, leaving behind a resilient legacy of Rajput heritage, ancestral pride, and local administration.
