History
Udeshi Kua Thikana, situated in the historic Marwar region of Rajasthan, is a prominent estate belonging to the Kumpawat clan of the Rathore dynasty. The Kumpawat Rathores trace their noble lineage back to the illustrious warrior Rao Kumpa Mehrajot, the Thakur of Asop and one of the most formidable generals of Marwar, who achieved martyrdom in the legendary Battle of Sammel (Giri-Sumel) in 1544 against the Afghan emperor Sher Shah Suri. Established as a vassal state under the suzerainty of the princely state of Jodhpur, the Thikana of Udeshi Kua was granted to the descendants of Rao Kumpa in recognition of their valor, military prowess, and unwavering allegiance to the Rathore crown. Throughout the Mughal and British periods, the rulers of Udeshi Kua maintained local administrative authority, contributed contingents to the Marwar state forces, and fostered regional trade and agriculture, preserving their distinct heritage until the Thikana's eventual integration into the Union of India post-independence in 1949.
