Thakarda

The Thakarda Jagir, situated in the historic Vagad region of southern Rajasthan, was established as a prominent fief of the Chauhan Rajput clan when Thakur Durjan Singh, son of Thakur Pratap Singh of Mandav, was officially granted the estate by Maharawal Fateh Singhji of Dungarpur during his reign in the early 19^th century. As premier nobles of the Dungarpur State, the Thakurs of Thakarda played an influential role in regional administration, border security, and local governance under the aegis of the Mewar Residency of the Rajputana Agency during the British Raj. The estate maintained its traditional socio-political influence and agrarian administration until the post-independence integration of princely states into the Indian Union in 1948, marking the end of its formal feudal jurisdiction.
