History
Thada, a prominent Thikana (feudal estate) situated in the historic Mewar region of Rajasthan, belongs to the illustrious Chundawat sub-clan of the Sisodia Rajputs. The Chundawats trace their noble lineage back to Rawat Chunda, the eldest son of Maharana Lakha of Mewar, who famously renounced his claim to the throne of Chittorgarh in the 15th century, securing hereditary rights to premier administrative and military positions for his descendants. As vassals to the Maharanas of Udaipur, the ruling chiefs of Thada served Mewar with distinction, safeguarding its borders during Mughal conflicts, Maratha incursions, and eventually transitioning into the treaty system of the British Raj. Following India's independence and the signing of the Instrument of Accession, the Thikana was integrated into the modern state of Rajasthan, with its traditional administrative powers ending but its cultural legacy continuing to hold a respected place in Rajput history.
