History
Sagrod Thikana, situated in the historic Vagad region of southern Rajasthan, is a prominent estate belonging to the Adhada (Ahra) Guhilot clan of the Sisodia dynasty. This thikana was originally granted as an appanage to Thakur Saheb Sawai Singhji, a younger son of His Highness Maharawal Lakshman Singhji, the ruler of the princely state of Banswara who reigned from 1844 to 1905. As a vassal state of Banswara, the rulers of Sagrod held significant administrative responsibilities and military obligations, contributing closely to the governance of the parent state during the British Raj. Following India's independence and the subsequent integration of the Rajputana states, the estate was merged into the Union of India, and its feudal privileges were eventually phased out under the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act of 1952, leaving the family to transition into modern civic life while preserving their ancestral heritage in the contemporary Banswara district.
