History
The Pilkah (also spelled Pilkha) Raj Taluk, situated in the historic Baiswara region of present-day Uttar Pradesh, was a prominent estate ruled by the Suryavanshi Bais Rajputs, who claim ancestral lineage from the legendary Emperor Shalivahana of Pratishthan. The foundation of this estate is deeply intertwined with the lineage of Raja Trilok Chand, the celebrated medieval chieftain of Baiswara whose descendants established various powerful taluqdaris across the fertile plains of the Oudh region. Throughout the Mughal era and the reign of the Nawabs of Awadh, the rulers of Pilkah maintained significant regional influence and military strength, securing their estate through successive settlements. During the British Raj, the taluk was formally recognized under the Oudh taluqdari system, playing a vital role in the agrarian economy of the district until the post-independence land reforms and the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition Act of 1950 formally integrated the estate into the modern democratic framework of India.
