Present Head
Thakur Bharat Singh, 12th and present Thakur of Payra.
History
Payra, an esteemed Chundawat fiefdom under the Udaipur State, represents a prominent branch of the Sisodia dynasty of Mewar. This historical Thikana was granted to Thakur Sakat Singh (Shakti Singh), the illustrious son of Thakur Venidas of Solaj, establishing a lineage of noble warriors who played a vital role in the geopolitical landscape of Rajasthan. As Chundawats, the descendants of Rawat Chunda, the rulers of Payra held hereditary martial responsibilities and fiercely guarded the sovereignty of Mewar through turbulent eras, maintaining their ancestral lands and cultural legacy well into the post-independence integration of Rajputana.
