History
The historical lineage of the Parawa Thikana is deeply rooted in the illustrious Songara clan of the Chauhan dynasty, tracing its ancestry back to the heroic Rao Shri Uday Singh, the ruler of Jalore. Following the historic siege of Jalore Fort in 1311 CE, where Rao Kanhadadev and his son Viramdev valiantly perished fighting the forces of Alauddin Khalji, Kanhadadev's younger brother, Rao Salha, retreated to Sanchore and established his sovereign rule there. Generations later, Rao Balu Songara of Sanchore granted several estates, including Dadosan, Charnim, Bawarla, and Jhotda, to his son Narhardas, whose own successor, Thakur Gordhan Das, was subsequently granted the specific fief of Parawa, thereby establishing the branch. Highly revered within the geopolitical hierarchy of Marwar, the Thakurs of Parawa maintain a prestigious status where, by enduring feudal tradition, neighboring chieftains personally present and tie the ceremonial Pagh (turban) during the coronation of a new ruler, symbolizing their unbroken heritage and regional honor.
