Ogana

Ogana (also spelled Ogna) was a prominent Thikana (feudal estate) located in the rugged Bhomat region of the erstwhile princely state of Mewar (Udaipur, Rajasthan), ruled by the Solanki clan of Rajputs who claim descent from the legendary Chalukyas of Anhilwara, Gujarat. As Bhumia chieftains, the rulers of Ogana played a crucial geopolitical role in safeguarding the mountainous southwestern frontiers of Mewar and maintaining administrative order in the tribal-dominated hilly tracts. Throughout its history, the estate maintained a fierce loyalty to the Maharanas of Udaipur, contributing militarily to the defense of the region, as recorded in historical surveys like the Imperial Gazetteer of India.
