History
The Nivsai Jagir is a prominent thikana of the Rajawat sub-clan of the Suryavanshi Kachwaha Rajputs, historically situated within the princely state of Jaipur (Dhundhar region) in Rajasthan. The Rajawats, who trace their direct patrilineal descent from the legendary ruler of Amber, Raja Man Singh I, occupied a highly prestigious position in the feudal hierarchy of Jaipur State, often holding key military and administrative responsibilities. As a Rajawat thikana, Nivsai was granted as a fiefdom to the descendants of the ruling house, playing a vital role in defending the borders of the state and contributing to the military campaigns of the Jaipur rulers during both the Mughal and British eras. Following India's independence and the subsequent implementation of the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act in 1952, the feudal privileges and land revenues of the Nivsai Jagir were abolished, leading to its integration into the modern democratic setup of Rajasthan, though the descendants continue to maintain their ancestral heritage and cultural traditions.
