Nagdi

Nagdi Thikana is a historic feudal estate belonging to the Sinhawat sub-clan of the Sisodia Rajputs, tracing its ancestral roots back to the princely state of Pratapgarh (originally known as Deolia) in southern Rajasthan. The Sinhawat Sisodias are descendants of Maharaj Singha, a prominent royal prince of the Mewar dynasty, whose lineage subsequently integrated into the nobility of the Pratapgarh state. Established as a jagir (land grant) for exceptional military service and kinship loyalty to the ruling Maharawat of Pratapgarh, Nagdi served as a crucial sentinel outpost on the borders of Mewar and Malwa. During the turbulent periods of Mughal and Maratha incursions, the Thakurs of Nagdi actively defended their territories, maintaining local autonomy and contributing to the defense of the parent state of Pratapgarh until the democratic integration of princely states into the Union of India in 1948.
