Majawato Ka Guda

Majawato Ka Guda is a historically significant feudal estate (Thikana) of the Sisodia Rajputs, situated in the rugged terrain of the Mewar region in Rajasthan and held by the Majawat sub-branch of the illustrious Chundawat clan. The Chundawats, tracing their lineage back to Rawat Chunda—the eldest son of Maharana Lakha of Mewar who famously renounced his throne in the 15^th century—traditionally held the hereditary right to lead the Harawal (vanguard) of the Mewar army in battle. This specific Thikana was granted to the descendants of Rawat Maja Singh, from whom the "Majawat" patronymic is derived, in recognition of their military valor and unwavering loyalty to the ruling House of Udaipur. Throughout the tumultuous Mughal and Maratha eras, the rulers of Majawato Ka Guda defended the strategic passes of the Aravallis, later transitioning into prominent administrative chieftains under the British Raj after the treaty of 1818, until the estate was integrated into independent India in 1948.
