History
Kholadi Thikana, situated in the historic region of Mewar in Rajasthan, was a prominent feudal estate held by the illustrious Chundawat clan of the Sisodia dynasty. The Chundawats, who trace their lineage back to the legendary crown prince Rawat Chunda—who famously relinquished his claim to the throne of Mewar in the 15th century—traditionally held the premier position among the nobility of the Mewar Kingdom (Udaipur). As a vassal estate of Udaipur, Kholadi contributed militarily to the state's defense during successive periods of Mughal and Maratha dominance, and maintained its administrative autonomy through the British Raj under the treaty of 1818. Following India's independence in 1947 and the subsequent accession of the Mewar State, Kholadi was integrated into the modern state of Rajasthan, bringing an end to its formal feudal administration while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
