History

The Jagir of Khajuri, situated in the historic Hadoti region of Rajasthan, was a notable estate ruled by the Suryavanshi Hada Chauhan clan of Rajputs, who shared close genealogical ties with the ruling house of Kotah. Established as a feudal fiefdom, the estate was granted to the cadets of the Kotah royal family for their military valor and loyal service to the Maharao. Throughout the Mughal period and the subsequent era of British paramountcy, the Thakurs of Khajuri maintained local administrative autonomy, contributing significantly to the regional defense and socio-cultural fabric of the Kotah State until the abolition of the jagirdari system post-Independence when the estate was integrated into the democratic Indian Union.
