History
The historical estate of Kama (historically known as Kaman), situated in the Mewat region of northeastern Rajasthan, was established as a prominent Rajawat Kachwaha thikana when it was granted as a jagir to Raja Kirat Singh (Keerat Singh), the younger son of the illustrious Mirza Raja Jai Singh I of Jaipur. Acquired with Mughal recognition in the mid-17th century, Kirat Singh was awarded this strategic fiefdom for his distinguished military services alongside his father in the Deccan campaigns under the Mughal Empire. As an influential seat of the Rajawat sub-clan, Kama served as a vital geopolitical outpost for the Amber state. During the geopolitical shifts of the 18th century and the decline of Mughal authority, the territory became a point of contention and was eventually absorbed into the princely state of Bharatpur during the expansion of the Jat dynasty under Maharaja Suraj Mal, yet it retains a deeply rooted historical and genealogical connection to the royal house of Jaipur.
