History

The historic Thikana of Jhajoo, a prominent estate of the Rawlot Bhati clan of Rajputs, was established in 1871 VS (circa 1814 AD) when it was conferred upon Maharaj Tej Singhji, the elder brother of Maharawal Gaj Singhji of Jaisalmer, by Maharaja Surat Singh of Bikaner. Situated within the geopolitical realm of the erstwhile Bikaner State, the rulers of Jhajoo held an exalted status and were traditionally counted among the esteemed parsangis (noble kinsmen) of the Bikaner royal family. The thikana's prestige was further elevated during the reign of Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner, who bestowed the coveted honor of Tazim upon Thakur Saheb Prabhu Singhji of Jhajoo, cementing their high ceremonial standing in the royal court. Following India's independence and the subsequent integration of princely states, the estate merged into the modern state of Rajasthan, though the descendants of this Rawlot Bhati lineage continue to preserve their illustrious ancestral heritage.
