History
The Jaitia Zamindari, situated in the historic Shahabad region of Bihar, was a prominent estate ruled by the Chandravanshi Rajputs belonging to the illustrious Harihobans (Haihaiya) clan. This dynasty, which traces its lineage back to the legendary lunar dynasty and the kingdom of Ratanpur, established its regional authority after migrating from Haldi in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Throughout the Mughal era and the subsequent British Raj, the Zamindars of Jaitia maintained considerable local influence, playing a pivotal role in the agrarian economy, patronizing local temples, and preserving their cultural heritage until the estate was dissolved post-independence under the Bihar Land Reforms Act of 1950.
