Hansari

Established in 1779 during the reign of Raja Vikramajit Mahendra of Orchha, the Jagir of Hansari was granted to the Bhatela Rajputs, a branch of the imperial Bhati clan of Rajasthan who had migrated to the Bundelkhand region. Situated adjacent to the historic city of Jhansi, this fiefdom was administered as a secure feudal estate under the suzerainty of the Princely State of Orchha within the British Raj's Bundelkhand Agency. Throughout the turbulent transitions of the Maratha campaigns and the establishment of British hegemony in Central India, the Bhatela chieftains maintained their local administrative autonomy and traditional landholding rights, which persisted until the estate was formally integrated into the Indian Union post-independence in 1950, with its territories today existing as part of the Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh.
