The Gopalpura Jagir, a notable estate of the Tanwar (Tomar) clan of Rajputs, originated from the historic seat of Kelawa Kalan. Descending from the ancient Tomar dynasty of Delhi, the rulers of this fiefdom carved out their local influence in Rajasthan, navigating the complex geopolitical dynamics of the Mughal and British periods while maintaining close socio-political ties with larger Rajput states such as Bikaner and Jodhpur. The Thakurs of Gopalpura served as key administrative and military chieftains in the region, preserving their distinct cultural heritage and Tanwar lineage until the integration of princely states and the subsequent abolition of the Jagirdari system in post-independence India.
