History
Ghantiyali Thikana, located in the Phalodi region of Rajasthan, is a prominent estate belonging to the Patawat sub-clan of the Rathore dynasty of Marwar. The Patawat Rathores trace their lineage back to Rao Pata (Pataji), a valiant warrior and one of the younger sons of Rao Ranmal (Rinmal), the 15th-century ruler of Jodhpur State (Marwar). Granted as a jagir for exemplary military services and unwavering loyalty to the Royal House of Jodhpur, Ghantiyali served as a crucial strategic outpost on the northern frontiers of the desert kingdom. Throughout the Mughal and British colonial eras, the Thakurs of Ghantiyali actively participated in the military campaigns of the Jodhpur state forces, maintaining a high degree of feudal autonomy until the integration of princely states into democratic India and the subsequent abolition of the Jagirdari system in 1947.
