Gaguda

Gaguda Thikana, a prominent estate of the Mertia Rathore clan, was established as a vassal principality under the princely state of Jodhpur (Marwar) in Rajasthan. The rulers of Gaguda trace their lineage back to Rao Duda, the historical ruler of Merta and a son of Rao Jodha, the illustrious founder of Jodhpur. As members of the fierce Mertia sub-clan of Rathores, the Thakurs of Gaguda rendered exemplary military service to the Maharaja of Marwar, participating in several historic campaigns against imperial Mughal forces and later confronting Maratha incursions during the turbulent 18^th century. Following the integration of Rajputana into independent India in 1949, the estate’s formal feudal privileges were abolished under the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act, transitioning the descendants of this martial lineage into modern agriculturalists, administrators, and custodians of their rich ancestral heritage.
