History
Dongargaon Thikana, located in the Malwa region of present-day Madhya Pradesh, was an influential estate ruled by the Suryavanshi Rathore clan, who trace their ancestry back to Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. Established as a noble offshoot of the Ratlam royal house, the thikana maintained a strategic position during the turbulent Maratha and British eras, operating under the administrative oversight of the Gwalior State. The chiefs of Dongargaon were recognized for their military valor and contribution to regional stability, preserving their distinctive Rajput heritage and socio-political influence until the abolition of princely privileges and the eventual integration of the estate into the Indian Union post-independence in 1948. For more details on the clan's migration and lineage in Central India, one can refer to the historical records of the Ratlam State.
