History

Origin and Foundation

The estate of Dodua was a prominent feudal thikana of the princely Sirohi State, ruled by the Deora clan of the historic Chauhan dynasty. The estate was granted to Thakur Jet Singh, the fifth son of Thakur Karan Singhji of Kalandri in Sirohi, after his three paternal uncles each died without issue, thereby securing the lineage and administrative continuity of the Dodua estate.

British Period and Administration

During the British Raj, the thikana of Dodua functioned under the suzerainty of the Maharao of Sirohi, who entered into a treaty of alliance with the British East India Company in 1823. As vassals of Sirohi, the Thakurs of Dodua maintained local law and order, collected revenue, and provided military allegiance to the state. The administrative details of the region during this period are documented in the historical records of the Rajputana Gazetteer by Major K.D. Erskine.

Post-Independence and Modern Era

Following India's independence in 1947, Sirohi State merged into the United State of Rajasthan in 1949. With the enactment of the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act in 1952, the traditional jagirdari and feudal privileges of the Dodua Thikana were formally abolished. Today, the descendants of the thikana preserve their rich cultural heritage and ancestral legacy within the modern democratic framework of India.
