History
Dhikani Jagir, located in the erstwhile princely state of Udaipur (Mewar) in Rajasthan, was a prominent estate held by the noble Dodiya clan of Rajputs. The Dodiya Rajputs of Mewar trace their ancestral roots back to the historic Sardargarh estate, whose rulers originally migrated from the Kathiawar region of Gujarat and established themselves as one of the premier first-class nobles (Solah Umraos) of the Mewar court through their exemplary military service and sacrifices in legendary battles like Haldighati. As a cadet branch of the Sardargarh house, the chieftains of Dhikani governed their fiefdom under the suzerainty of the Maharanas of Mewar, contributing to the region's defense and local administration until the integration of princely states and the subsequent abolition of the jagirdari system in post-independence India.
