History
Dharadara Thikana, situated in the historic Banaskantha region of northern Gujarat, was a prominent estate ruled by the Chauhan dynasty of Rajputs, who trace their illustrious lineage back to the legendary Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan III of Ajmer and Delhi. Following the fall of Delhi and subsequent medieval migrations through Mewar and Thar Parkar, these Chauhans established their sovereignty in the region of Vav and Deodar, from which cadet branches eventually carved out tributary estates, including the Thikana of Dharadara. During the era of the British Raj, the estate was recognized as a non-jurisdictional state administered under the Palanpur Agency, which was later integrated into the Banaskantha Agency of the Western India States Agency. The Thakors of Dharadara maintained local administrative authority and preserved their cultural heritage until the post-independence era, when the estate was formally integrated into the Indian Union in 1948 and subsequently merged into the modern state of Gujarat.
