History

Chudawara Jagir, a prominent historical fiefdom in Rajasthan, was held by the illustrious Sonigara sect of the Chauhan Rajput clan, who trace their lineage back to the legendary rulers of Jalore. Established as a strategic seat of power, this thikana maintained close feudal and military alliances with the princely state of Jodhpur (Marwar), playing an active role in the regional geopolitics of Rajputana. The Sonigara chieftains of Chudawara were celebrated for their martial chivalry, safeguarding trade routes, and defending their territories during turbulent medieval campaigns. Following India's independence in 1947 and the subsequent abolition of the jagirdari system, the estate was integrated into the modern state of Rajasthan, though its rich cultural heritage, architectural remnants, and legacy of bravery continue to be preserved by its descendants today.
