History
Chhirr Thikana, located in the historic Dhundhar region of Rajasthan, is a notable estate belonging to the illustrious Khangarot sub-clan of the Kachwaha dynasty of Jaipur. The Khangarot clan traces its lineage back to Rao Khangar, a valiant warrior of the 16th century and the son of Jagmal, who was the son of Raja Prithviraj Singh I of Amber. Granted as a fiefdom to his descendants, Chhirr served as a strategic military and administrative outpost under the suzerainty of the Jaipur State, with its nobles actively participating in various military campaigns led by the rulers of Amber and Jaipur. Over the centuries, the rulers of Chhirr maintained their feudal authority, contributing to the socio-cultural fabric of the region through the patronage of local architecture and religious institutions, before the estate was integrated into the modern Indian state of Rajasthan after independence.
