History
As a feudal estate of the Hada Chauhan clan, Chhapol functioned as a sub-thikana under the parent state of Indargarh, which was one of the premier Kotris (baronial estates) of the princely state of Bundi. The rulers of Chhapol administered their territory in accordance with the traditional Rajput feudal hierarchy, contributing militarily and administratively to the defense of the Hadoti region during periods of regional instability. This legacy of local governance and clan allegiance continued under the British protectorate until the integration of the estate into modern India post-independence. For further context on the feudal structures of the region, see James Tod's account in the Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan.
