History
The estate of Chamu, a prominent Jaisa Bhati Thikana, was established in Vikram Samvat 1789 (c. 1732 CE) when it was granted to Thakur Madho Singh Ji Bhati, the son of Thakur Rinchhoddas Ji Bhati of Balarwa, by Maharaja Abhay Singh Ji of Marwar. The Jaisa Bhatis are an illustrious sub-clan of the Chandravanshi Bhati Rajputs, tracing their lineage back to the royal house of Jaisalmer. This strategic land grant was bestowed upon Thakur Madho Singh Ji in recognition of his family's military valor and loyal service to the Rathore rulers of the Jodhpur State during the turbulent political climate of 18th-century Rajasthan. Throughout the Marwar and British periods, the rulers of Chamu maintained their feudal obligations, contributing to the defense of the state and preserving their rich cultural heritage until the abolition of the Jagirdari system in post-independence India.
