History

Bhopji Ka Kheda is a historical thikana (fiefdom) of the Sisodia Rajput dynasty, belonging specifically to the illustrious Chundawat sub-clan. Located within the historic region of Mewar (Udaipur), the estate's lineage traces back to Rawat Chunda, the eldest son of Maharana Lakha of Mewar, who famously renounced his right to the throne in the 15th century. In recognition of Chunda's sacrifice, his descendants—the Chundawats—were bestowed with hereditary estates and held the prestigious privilege of leading the vanguard (Harawal) of the Mewar state army. Bhopji Ka Kheda functioned as a loyal vassal seat under the political umbrella of the Udaipur State, contributing to the region's defense and administration through the Mughal and British colonial periods, until its integration into the Indian Union in 1948.
